Traveling Healthy

I’ve been a professional flight attendant for over 27 years now. Traveling healthy seemed to be something that wasn’t attainable. Over the years so much has changed in my career. Many airports used to have a centralized restaurant or cafeteria. Now many of them are packed with fast food options, pubs, pizza eateries and sit-down restaurants of popular chains. Before my ketogenic lifestyle began, I had succumbed to the carb-craved food items found in each of these establishments. I would never look at the “healthy” options on the menu and wouldn’t give super-sizing a meal a second thought. Not surprisingly, my health and my weight took a nosedive and my physical and mental health was effected.

Since learning how to eat properly with the ketogenic diet, I’ve reversed my diabetes diagnosis, dropped over 67lbs and have more energy than I did when I was in my 30s. When I learned that I can still have everything I craved, all the foods I had eaten before and deserts that I loved, and not have to worry about my health, I was hooked. It’s something that has to be learned through trial and error, but it can be achieved.

Don’t Give Up

Soar To Your Goal

Traveling healthy is something that has to be learned and practiced. As a professional flight attendant I meet people from all walks of life, all levels of income and all ideas of what a healthy diet is. I’ve heard many reasons why they have fallen into the routine they are in with health, and how they struggle to get out of it. We all have that moment that changes our motivation to become healthy, and when it happens, we work hard to achieve that goal. However you choose to become healthy, just choose to do it. You won’t regret it when your goal is achieved. Just know that persistence and determination will prevail.

Surround yourself with people who can motivate you. I listen to music that motivates me, get plenty of sun and remain active in and around my house. Hobbies can be therapeutic and are very beneficial to your mental health and can keep you on the right track to success. It really seems to be true that an active life is a healthy life. They seem to come hand in hand with me.

Educate Yourself

There is so much information on the internet to help you on your journey. For me, I turned to YouTube to learn how to make ketogenic meals that I could enjoy. Being stuck in a rut of just eating steak, chicken, pork and ground beef I was getting bored with my diet and almost gave up. My sister informed me of the different foods you can have without having to give up taste and cravings, but once I started to see what was out there, I was hooked. Before now I never really knew how to cook. By watching the videos and practicing I became efficient in the kitchen. I never would have thought I would be able to make the meals I have and deserts and bread as well.

Dr. Berg is also a great resource and is quite the expert when it comes to your health and eating. His website https://www.drberg.com/ is full of information that is so useful. For some amazing recipes I have visited many channels on YouTube. Some of my favorites are : https://www.youtube.com/c/PapaGCooking/about, https://www.youtube.com/c/LowCarbLove/about, https://www.youtube.com/c/KetoFocus/about, and https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjRbcOrdH4KoLZHZmcUqixA/about which is “All Day I Dream About Food”. From deserts, side dishes and main courses, there are plenty of channels to get you going.
